The american culture is no more only american. It has gone through its own borders to become an icon. In this work, I intend, through a spontaneous and free photography, to raise questions about the american culture, its signs and its representation. I try to reappropriate this popular imagery by focusing on details and frames refering to the american photography but in order to show how these signs have gone through their own territory to enter a global awareness, a worldwide conscience. None of the pictures of this work was taken in the USA. This work is not so much on the economic globalisation but on a « de-territorialisation » of the american culture and mythology, on the role photography and cinema played to promote a culture and create a model for the rest of the world. |
